Beyoncé: “I Am… World Tour” Is The Best Selling Music DVD Of 2010 [News]



“It’s only been out for five weeks, but Yahoo!’s Chart Beat column reports that Beyonce’s I Am…World Tour DVD has now become the best-selling music video of 2010, with 132,000 copies sold. This is the fourth year in a row that Beyonce has scored one of the year’s top 10 music DVDs.

Michael Jackson, meanwhile, has placed three DVDs in the year’s top 10, including Live in Bucharest: The Dangerous Tour, Number Ones, and Michael Jackson’s Vision, a three-disc set that includes all 35 of his videos.

Other top-selling music DVDs of 2010 include U2′s 360 Degrees at the Rose Bowl, Bon Jovi’s Live at Madison Square Garden, and Celine Dion’s Taking Chances World Tour: The Concert.?”

“Beyoncé’s I AM…WORLD TOUR full-length concert film, lensed during the artist’s record-breaking international concert tour, has been certified double platinum after its initial release on Friday, November 26. The deluxe DVD/Soundtrack edition—including the concert DVD, a live soundtrack, an exclusive, intimate documentary and explosive travelogue, and a 40-page collection of never-seen photos—was released on Tuesday, November 30. The DVD holds the #1 position on Nielsen SoundScan Music DVD chart.

The concert film, with it’s never-before-seen, intimate footage of the star around the world, played on big screens in select cities around the country on November 18, the two-year anniversary of the release of the multi-platinum I AM…SASHA FIERCE album, which has sold more than six million copies and 15 million digital singles worldwide, while earning a record-breaking six Grammy Awards, the most ever for a female artist in a single year, in 2010.

Last night I was fortunate enough to attend the I Am… World Tour DVD Screening here in New York City. Where Beyoncé came and personally presented the film herself. Beyoncé certainly knows how to whip up a crowd, whether she’s on-stage or off.

Fans came out in droves as the Grammy winning sensation walked the red carpet for the fan appreciation New York special screening of her new concert DVD film I AM…World Tour on Sunday night.

The multi-talented perfomer produced, directed and edited the movie that follows her world concert tour from March 2009 through February 2010. Check out more photos of Beyoncé at the screening after the jump. (more…)
