Beyoncé definitely had a leg up on all the other late night performances on Thursday. Sasha Fierce stepped out in a super-short (and sexy) white minidress to sing her new single “Best Thing I Never Had” on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
The international superstar really got into it towards the end that led to the audience letting out a preemptive applause. Her backup band was also something to be envied. It was none other than Quest Love and The Roots, the Late Night‘s house band!

Jasmine has no idea she’s won PopSugar’s contest to star in our latest I’m a Huge Fan series, and of course, we had some amazing surprises lined up along the way. Her first challenge is to learn the “Run the World (Girls)” dance from Beyoncé’s video, and who better to teach her than B’s actual backup dancers. Jasmine even gets to wear the couture Brian Lichtenberg vest that Beyoncé sported in the “Run the World (Girls)” music video and during her Billboard Music Awards performance. Big thanks to the Broadway Dance Center, Brian Lichtenberg, and the Andaz Hotel.

Beyoncé added more estrogen to the room when she visited ‘The View’ on Thursday. The ladies asked the R&B star about everything from her hiatus to her husband before she graced the audience with a performance of ’1+1? and ‘Best Thing I Never Had.’
To reiterate what she said in her Essence cover story, Beyoncé talked about what pushed her to take a year-long break from the industry. “My mother was very, very persistent and kept telling me I had to take care of my mental health and get a chance to really enjoy life and everything that I’ve been able to accomplish, because it was starting to become kind of fuzzy,” she said. “I couldn’t even tell the difference between which day or which city I was in.”

There are two ways to shoot a dance-heavy video. You can build an elaborate set, design multiple costumes and hire a cavalcade of dancers to serve as back-up bodies. Or you can just slap a leotard and high heels on Beyoncé Knowles and call it a day. That’s exactly what director Jake Nava did in the video for Beyonceé ‘s “Single Ladies (Put a Ring On It).” Beyoncé and her two choreographers, Frank Gatson and JaQuel Knight, came up with the dance routine by combining elements of an old Bob Fosse dance with something called J-Setting (a call-and-response type cheerleading dance that originated at Jackson State University in Mississippi). The three-minute video was shot in one take, with the lighting and angles changed live as Beyonceé and two other dancers swished, bounced and popped in front of a blank backdrop. It has been watched more than 128 million times on YouTube and has inspired dozens of fan videos. Sometimes, the best creations are also the simplest.

Reuters recently spoke with Beyoncé about her upcoming lead role in the Clint Eastwood remake of A Star Is Born, as well as the birth of her new Diane Warren-penned ballad, “I Was Here”. About the latter, Beyoncé revealed:
I got a call from Diane and she played the song on guitar over the phone, and I said, “Oh my god, I have to have this song.” It was inspired by September 11. It’s the tenth anniversary and I thought, “Wow, this really completes my album.”
