Gwyneth Paltrow: Emotional About Beyoncé Friendship [News]

“The Hollywood actress and her husband, Coldplay frontman Chris Martin, are close pals with singing superstar Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z. The foursome love spending time together and Gwyneth turned to Beyoncé for advice when she landed a role as singer Kelly Canter in her latest movie Country Strong. The Oscar-winner knew the songstress would be the perfect person to teach her how to play a successful musician, but Gwyneth was still blown away by how supportive Beyoncé was.”

“I asked my two great singer friends Faith Hill and Beyoncé who are super successful on the level that Kelly Canter is supposed to be,” Gwyneth replied to British television show Lorraine when asked how she prepared for the movie role. “I picked their brains and I watched them and watched their concerts and I really tried to get them. They were wonderful to me, so supportive. I could cry thinking about how incredible they were to me. You know, a good girlfriend is such a valuable thing, it really is, and they really stepped up to the plate for me.”

The 38-year-old impressed with her vocal talents in the movie and is rumoured to be close to signing a record deal. Since making Country Strong, she has performed live at the Oscars, Grammy Awards and CMA Awards as well as appearing in American television show Glee.

Gwyneth put a great deal of work into perfecting her singing voice for the movie, revealing she was blown away when she saw the script.

“It was a lot of singing lessons, a lot of guitar lessons, massive amounts of research, listening to country music all the time, watching people perform and play the guitar,” she added. “It was a challenge. I read the script and it just stayed with me, I don’t know, it kept calling me back and circling my brain, I was very attracted to Kelly Canter as a character. How messed up she was and raw and how complicated her relationship with her husband was. I was very drawn to a lot of the themes in the movie.”

Even though the actress has only recently made her vocal abilities public, she has been singing for years. Gwyneth has confessed she used to perform unusual songs as she watched her favourite television programme when she was growing up.

“My mother says that I was always singing. She was making me laugh the other day, because she was recalling how when I was little I used to scat to Sesame Street,” she smiled.”
