Music fans around the world last saw Beyoncé live on stage during her yearlong I AM…WORLD TOUR, which ended in February 2010. The tour played 108 shows in 78 cities in 32 countries on six continents to 1.1 millions fans in Europe, Asia, South America and the US.
Beyoncé, who is currently in the studio working on new music, attended Glastonbury Festival in 2008 as a fan and is excited to return as a headliner. “This really is the biggest festival in the world and I cannot wait to perform there. Everyone who attends is really appreciative of music and is in such a good mood that entire weekend,” she said. “I’m pumped just thinking about that huge audience and soaking up their energy.”
“A source said: “After all the furore over Jay-Z playing Glasto, it went off brilliantly and he had a wonderful time. Beyoncé was, of course, in the wings soaking up the atmosphere and told everyone how happy she was at Worthy Farm. Getting her to perform in her own right seems the ideal next step.â€
The recently-released, I AM…WORLD TOUR full-length concert DVD, with its never-before-seen, intimate footage of the star around the world, quickly became the best selling concert DVD of 2010 in the US.
Beyoncé has been nominated for two GRAMMY ® awards, including Best Pop Female Vocal Performance (“Halo” (Live)) and Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals (“Telephone” with Lady Gaga.)
The 53rd Annual Grammy ® Awards, airs live on February 13th on CBS, 8pm ET/PT.
