The Commander hitmaker — who rose to fame alongside Beyonce when they were members of girl group Destiny’s Child — still considers the Single Ladies singer to be a “sister†— but she finds comparisons between the pair “unintelligentâ€.
“We’re sisters! But claims of negativity and catfights sell way more,†she said.
“People can’t think of anything more intelligent than to compare. And that’s only natural, I understand.
“That’s just the way the industry is, so you find a way to make things your own. But even though my sound sounds like nothing she’s done, people are going to find something to say.â€
In January 2009, the singer parted ways professionally with manager Mathew Knowles – who is also Beyonce’s father — however, she insisted the split was amicable on both sides.
“I just needed a change — and he was very supportive, and that’s it,†she said.
Kelly, 29, recently dismissed rumors of a Destiny’s Child reunion, after Mathew claimed it could be on the cards.
“Matthew is not a member of Destiny’s child so, with all due respect, that’s not a decision he can make — that’s up to myself, Beyonce and Michelle Williams,†she said.
Some sources said that Kelly is tired of being compared to Beyonce, however I don’t think that’s the problem for Kel …She just felt the need to address the haters once again, about accusing her and Bey of being enemies. As she has stated numerous times “…They are sisters!” and will remain close as family for the rest of their lives.
